I’ve always loved animals, and from when I was little up until having to decide what to do after school, I wanted to be a vet. However becoming a vet involves a lot of advanced math in France where I’m from, and that put me off, so I decided to study biology instead. It’s during my first year of study that I first fell in love with insects, when I stumbled upon box tree moth caterpillars and decided to collect them and rear them to see what they would turn into. From then on I was hooked, and I would spend a lot of my free time on bug hunts, with a particular interest for moths and butterflies. Since then I’ve become the ‘bugologist’ among my friends and family members, and similarly to many other entomologists, I frequently receive identification requests, sometimes with a blurry photo, sometimes with just a vague description, and I am proud to say that I manage to answer correctly most of the times.

I ended up focusing my studies on agricultural entomology and came to the UK to do a PhD at Harper Adams University looking at the potential of biopesticides to control the cabbage stem flea beetle. I am currently a post-doc working with vine weevils still at Harper, and I am also an Associate Editor for Antenna and for Approaches in Entomology (both from the Royal Entomological Society).

In my spare time when not busy being a bugologist I liked to read, watch films and series, and play video games. This sentence is past tense because I now have a toddler so my spare time is mostly used in caring for her. However I look forward to nurture a love of insects in my little one as she grows up.
