I believe curiosity has guided me since I was a child. I remember enjoying observing beetles and dragonflies flying around outside my house. Although I did not initially study insects at university, they eventually became a central part of my academic journey. During my master’s and PhD, I focused on different research questions related to insect–plant interactions, exploring topics ranging from forest entomology and biodiversity to agricultural and agroecological systems.

My PhD research focused on applied chemical ecology and insect behaviour, particularly on a really tiny beetle: the coffee berry borer. This little insect attacks coffee fruits—and, unfortunately, one of my favorite drinks. Since then, I have gained experience in Integrated Pest Management involving different insect pests and crops. I have also had the opportunity to work with beneficial interactions, particularly pollination, studying bee preferences for certain odors and exploring how this knowledge can be applied to improve crop pollination.

When I am not working, you will probably find me traveling or exploring forest, riding my bike, or taking photographs of landscapes, birds, and, of course, insects! I also enjoy playing video games and football. On Fridays and Sundays, you can usually find me on the field playing in an amateur league in my hometown.
